Happy Sunday! Winter is upon us (almost!). This coming weekend will mark the shortest day of the year (and thus the longest night), as we celebrate the winter solstice and the return of light! 🌓 Winter can be a time to pause and embrace the stillness of the season as the quiet winter energy invites us to slow down and nourish our bodies with rest and warmth. Cultivating an environment of calm and coziness in the wintertime can help evoke feelings of contentment, relaxation & comfort. Maybe you’re familiar with the term ‘Hygge’ (pronounced HOO-gah)? If not, it’s a Danish and Norwegian word that describes a feeling of coziness and contentment that comes from enjoying life's simple pleasures. Hygge is a feeling that’s hard to explain, but you know it when you feel it — some of the main features include togetherness, relaxation, indulgence, presence, and comfort. As we near the winter solstice, I’ve created a cozy nook, the candles are burning bright, my hot cocoa and tea stash has grown, the wood is nestled in the woodbox, and the home-fire is burning (24/7!).
