Keep It Simple

Happy Sunday!

You’re in the last lap of the holiday season and the calendar year! How are you doing?

There is a lot to navigate this time of year and if you’re like me, maybe you get caught up in allllll the little details—of everything. Not only can this be exhausting, but it can lead to overwhelm, frustration and decision-fatigue.

The mantra I use when I begin to feel this way is “Keep It Simple Steph” (K.I.S.S. 😚). Instead of trying to master every little nuance, I’ve tried to change my mindset from “perfection” to “good enough”. Just these simple shifts have given me permission to focus on what truly matters to me and to let other things slide. I now have a lot less “I should…”, I need to…”, or “I used to…”, and that is very liberating.

You know yourself best. Ask yourself these questions: What makes my holiday season meaningful? What can I let go of to simplify the holiday and let go of the pressure to do it all?

Weekly Wellness Intention 💫

This season, I choose to embrace simplicity in my life. I release the need for perfection and instead focus on what is meaningful and creates peace, balance, and joy in my life.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less — A book written by Greg McKeown to help us boil down what is most essential to us in order to eliminate what’s not. Here are some of the key points that hit home for me:

1. The importance of saying “no” to nonessential tasks in order to can focus on what truly matters.

2. Distinguishing the difference between busy-ness and true productivity in day to day tasks (and then reducing the shallow busy tasks).

3. Creating space for regular rest and reflection in order to make better decisions and for overall wellbeing.
