Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Pablo Picasso

Remember the joy you felt when you made things just for fun? Whether it was making up stories, singing self-made songs, or crafting with whatever you could find, expressing yourself came naturally. For some, that creative spark remains strong, while for others, it gets pushed aside. Making art begins with giving yourself permission to play. Imagine tapping back into that joy you felt as a kid when a cardboard box became anything you wanted and your imagination knew no bounds.

I help people of all ages use art to tap into their creativity and integrate it into daily life. Art has the power to transform and is essential for wholehearted living. It's the playground where we develop life skills, connect with our true selves and others, and have the autonomy to express ourselves—whether through painting, drawing, or other forms of expression. It's about trying new things, learning from our mistakes, and experiencing the world through curiosity and playfulness.

"There’s no such thing as creative people and non-creative people. There are only people who use their creativity and people who don’t." - Brené Brown

Nurturing Creativity: Tips for Developing your Creative Practice

Create a Space: If possible, set up a space in your home for creative work. It can help signal to your brain that it’s time to engage in art. If you do not have the space, the kitchen table works! Store supplies in a toolbox for easy access and clean-up.

Start Small: Begin with short sessions, such as 10-15 minutes.

Choose Your Medium: What type of art interests you the most: painting, drawing, writing, photography, or another form?

Gather Supplies: What materials do you need? Having them available will make it easier to start creating.

Stay Inspired: What lights you up? Follow those clues. Surround yourself with sources of inspiration, such as books, podcasts, galleries, or online platforms.

Set Goals: Do you need a goal to stay motivated? This could look like learning a new technique, taking an online class, or finding an accountability partner. Break down your goals into bite-sized chunks so success is inevitable.

Join a Community: Connect with others who share your passion for art. Join local art classes, workshops, or online forums to exchange ideas and stay motivated.

Building a creative practice takes time. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the journey!
